Begin with the decision
Technology evaluation starts with a real workflow: matching a document, tracing an item or identifying a change in supplier risk. Define the decision and the information needed before comparing platforms. An interesting demonstration is not yet a dependable operating process.
Ask about the evidence
For AI, discuss data quality, review responsibility and the cost of correcting a wrong answer. For connected devices, consider ownership and maintenance of the signal. For distributed ledgers, ask which parties need a shared record and how an incorrect entry is resolved.
Make a bounded trial
A narrowly scoped trial is easier to evaluate than a broad transformation promise. Agree the starting point, a responsible owner and the conditions for stopping. Share the learning without exposing confidential commercial information.
