A ledger is not a process
Distributed records only help when the participating organisations agree what the record means.
Start with the parties
Who creates a record, who relies on it and who can challenge it? These questions matter before selecting a distributed-ledger architecture. If one organisation already controls the complete workflow, a shared ledger may not address the real constraint.
Plan for correction
An immutable history does not guarantee that the original information was correct. Discuss how errors are identified, how a correction is represented and which party has authority to approve it. Physical traceability still depends on the link between an item and its recorded identity.
Test the governance
A technical demonstration is incomplete without rules for access, responsibility and exception handling. Walk through an ordinary transaction and a disputed one. The quality of those agreements often determines whether the technology can become a working system.
